I have a couple of ideas for my final project. Almost all of them revolve around spheres and electronics. The first is a concept that I have been developing as a research project for Mexico. It is an energy harvesting toy. The main idea is to have a device that is capable of micro harvesting energy while its being used by kids. This device takes the shape of a ball and would be equipped with piezo electric transducers, a capacitor bank for storage and usb plug for outputting its charge. The idea is to have a device that can meet some of the energy requirements for informal settlemnts while acting as a community building tool. The ball would also be equipped with high efficiency leds so that it can be used as a portable lamp in order to improve sense of security while walking. What better way to make friends than at the soccer field!?

A second concept, would also embed electronics within a sphere. I would like to embedd sensors within small spheres. The idea of this project is to embedd sensors on an artifact that can be deployed for multipurpose research. You could throw this balls into the ocean, different sections of a building, schools, playgrounds... I believe there is an inteesting aspect to explore within fun deployments of sensors.

We will see how concepts and ideas evolve as the course progresses! Very much looking forward to it!
