This week we were introduced to a variety of computer-aided design (CAD) softwares. Our task was to think about a potential final project design and mock it up in CAD.
The idea for this project is to build a wall mountable multi-channel speaker built with very cheap, affoardable speakers that can either be used as a single sound system, or taken apart and used as two that communicate wirelessly to produce a surround sound effect.
Digikey is a valuable resource for sourcing electronics parts and dimensions. They have thousands of choices available at different prices (as cheap as $1.85)
Using Rhino, I sketched up what this sound system might look like. I wasn't too precise with certain details because I have no idea what material I'm going to make this from, what kinds of electronics might be required/how they might be housed, and how the speakers might need to be arranged for everything to work as expected. Nevertheless, making this sketch will probably be helpful for future iterations as we move forward in the course.
